News January 2010
We were pleased to be involved early December 2009 with the installation of Christmas trees in the City of London on behalf of our clients Quality & Service Ltd.
The heavy rains and high winds throughout November into December and the heavy snows of January have brought a large number of emergency tree works with them. Our advice to all clients is that it is most important that any suspected dead, dying or dangerous trees are inspected, as they can cause problems in the inclement weather. Also please ensure that inspections are made where large amounts of dead wood present in a tree, as damage can occur when this is blown out during periods of bad weather.
The R W Green snow plough also came in very handy during the recent spell of bad weather when we were pleased to assist clients with snow clearance works.
R W Green Limited remains committed to the recycling of as much of our waste as is possible. Our wood waste is chipped and either recycled for use in the environment or is collected and taken to power stations for use in the production of carbon neutral electricity for the National Grid. We were therefore very pleased to have been involved again this year with Lewes District Councils 2009-10 Christmas tree recycling scheme, where more than 1600 trees have been collected and shredded for the benefit of the environment.
We had a most successful Wood Fair in September 2009 and continue through our preferred supplier Barcham Trees of Ely Cambridgeshire to be able to offer a wide variety of trees for year round supply and planting. (See our Links page). We are happy to visit your property and to suggest species for planting. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff are able to advise both our private and commercial clients on new planting schemes, hard landscape designs, and works to existing trees and shrubs. So please take advantage of our free estimating service. We will design, supply, plant and maintain tree and shrub planting schemes. We will plant individual specimen trees, new hedgerows, shrub beds, tree avenues, shelter belts and woodlands. Planting can be undertaken on new development sites, in n private grounds, parks and highways and even on film sets!

FUND RAISING FOR NEWHAVEN LIFEBOAT
We have for a number of years been keen supporters and fundraisers for the Newhaven Lifeboat. We have a scheme in place where by our waste cordwood can be collected from our yard by members of the public for their fires, all we ask for is a small donation into our collecting box to boost Newhaven RNLI Funds. This scheme in the past twelve months has raised almost one thousand pounds for the lifeboat crew.
